"Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and hope to the end for the grace that is to be brought unto you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; As obedient children, not fashioning yourselves according to the former lusts in your ignorance: But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man’s work, pass the time of your sojourning here in fear". (1 Peter 1:13-17)
The appeal to "gird up the loins of your mind" was an appeal to the "elect", to whom the epistle is addressed, to preparation and temperance, that they may faithfully hope for the perfection or completing of the grace that Jesus Christ was to bring to them on his return to the earth. We have been called and chosen and we must now remain faithful (Revelation 17:14) until the call to judgement if we wish to be separated unto Yahweh in that day, and not be included in the goats that are on the left hand of the Master at the judgement. In so doing they would be "obedient children" and not conforming their mind and character "according to the former lusts" of their previous life in the world when they were ignorant of the Truth. But now that they have been taught the knowledge of the Gospel they have a responsibility towards Yahweh, as of a loving Father who has provided the means to give them life through his only begotten son who died and rose again. The eternal salvation which Yashua Anointed obtained (Hebrews 9:11-12Hebrews 9:11-12 11 But Christ being come an high priest of good things to come, by a greater and more perfect tabernacle, not made with hands, that is to say, not of this building; 12 Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption.) is open to all those who as obedient children adhere to his teaching.
Therefore they, and we as well, are exhorted to be holy, separate in all manner of life; we are to exhibit the same characteristic of holiness as the Father, the creator and sustainer of all things. We have been called and chosen and we must now remain faithful (Revelation 17:14Revelation 17:14 14 These shall make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for he is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and they that are with him are called, and chosen, and faithful.) until the call to judgement if we wish to be separated unto Yahweh in that day, and not be included in the goats that are on the left hand of the Master at the judgement.
