"And thou shalt make a plate of pure gold, and grave upon it, like the engravings of a signet, HOLINESS TO THE LORD. And thou shalt put it on a blue lace, that it may be upon the mitre; upon the forefront of the mitre it shall be. And it shall be upon Aaron’s forehead, that Aaron may bear the iniquity of the holy things, which the children of Israel shall hallow in all their holy gifts; and it shall be always upon his forehead, that they may be accepted before the LORD." - Exodus 28:36-38
It was only through the holiness attributed to Aaron through Consecration of Aaron and his Sons, shown by the wearing of the mitre, that the holy gifts brought unto God would be accepted. Likewise, our High Priest presents our holy gifts of prayer, dedication and service to God and it is only Yahshua’s holiness as our mediator that makes them acceptable. This clearly shows that we cannot approach unto Yahweh on our terms, since no matter how 'holy' our gifts of sacrifice are in obedience to his commands they would be unacceptable and so couldn't be of any benefit. Salvation is by the grace of God and is not of works, "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast" (Ephesians 2:8-9Ephesians 2:8-9 8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.).
