Qodesh

"And this is the thing that thou shalt do unto them to hallow them, to minister unto me in the priest's office. [4] And Aaron and his sons thou shalt bring unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, and shalt wash them with water. [21] And thou shalt take of the blood that is upon the altar, and of the anointing oil, and sprinkle it upon Aaron, and upon his garments, and upon his sons, and upon the garments of his sons with him: and he shall be hallowed, and his garments, and his sons, and his sons' garments with him." Ex. 29:1, 4, 21.

What could be a clearer or simpler type of the High Priest and the "kings and priests" constituted of the saints, and the holiness that is to be developed through a life of dedicated service. Thus there are two levels of holiness indicated, separation from the world and separation for the specific work of YahwehAll the priests of Israel, including the High Priest, were to be hallowed (Hebrew "qadash") or made holy (Hebrew "qodesh"), that is consecrated to Yahweh being set apart from the remainder of the nation for His special work; and this despite the nation itself being separate from the other peoples around them. Thus there are two levels of holiness indicated, separation from the world and separation for the specific work of Yahweh and this, as well as having lessons for us today, points forward in type to the Kingdom when the immortalised saints shall rule the earth with Yahshua Anointed, with natural Israel as the head of the nations (Isaiah 2:2Isaiah 2:2 2 And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the LORD’S house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.).

First Aaron and the priests were washed, or as the Hebrew indicates bathed, before putting on the priestly garments, the like figure whereunto we also have been separated from the world by the washing of baptism. Paul writes of Jesus the Messiah "For in that he died, he died unto sin once; but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God" (Romans 6:10) and of those baptised into the Truth "Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord" (Romans 6:11). This is the quintessence of holiness for the saints, living unto Yahweh a life that conforms in all aspects to the principles of His Holy Word, and day by day developing a character that is akin to the mind and spirit of Christ.
