Blog
The purpose of the blog is to show the frequency, and relevance to the faithful disciple, that the subject of holiness to our heavenly Father and separation from the world occurs in His Word. This must instil in us both a desire and a willingness to leave the things of the world, with its ungodly views and actions behind us, or be caught up in its malicious and insidious ways. If we don't then we risk giving up our hope of acceptance when we stand before the great Judge of all the earth.
The short thoughts in this category are on a variety of relevant subjects that can be read and meditated upon without spending a lot of time at intervals through the day. We hope they will be both interesting and edifying, in accordance with scriptural principles.
Who is holy?
"Now Korah, the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, and Dathan and Abiram, the sons of Eliab, and On, the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men: And they rose up before Moses, with certain of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty princes of the assembly, famous in the congregation, men of renown: And they gathered themselves together against Moses and against Aaron, and said unto them, Ye take too much upon you, seeing all the congregation are holy, every one of them, and the LORD is among them: wherefore then lift ye up yourselves above the congregation of the LORD?" - Numbers 16:1-3
Holiness of Truth
"And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ: Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ:" - Ephesians 4:11-13
"And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness." - Ephesians 4:24
My lord delayeth his coming
"Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up. Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord hath made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods. But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; And shall begin to smite his fellowservants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; ...the wicked servant is smiting his fellow servants by bringing in "damnable heresies", and consuming the doctrines of the apostacy. The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth." - Matthew 24:42-51
Mercy and Truth
"He shall abide before God for ever: O prepare mercy and truth, which may preserve him." - Psalm 61:7
"Withhold not thou thy tender mercies from me, O LORD: let thy lovingkindness and thy truth continually preserve me." - Psalm 40:11
"O send out thy light and thy truth: let them lead me; let them bring me unto thy holy hill, and to thy tabernacles." - Psalm 43:3
Pray not for this people
"Then said the LORD unto me, Pray not for this people for their good. When they fast, I will not hear their cry; and when they offer burnt offering and an oblation, I will not accept them: but I will consume them by the sword, and by the famine, and by the pestilence" (Jeremiah 14:11-12).
Why should Yahweh speak to Jeremiah in this way concerning Israel, His special people that are called after his own Name?
